Sarah and the 800 pound gorilla

left: Sarah repells moose attack!!!

Well, wow.

Alaska's Governor of a year and a half, Sarah Palin, has been tapped to run as John McCain's vice-president. This attractive "hockey mom" and her mentor SEEM to have stopped kissing George Bush's ass long enough to pretend to be "mavericks" of the Republican Party.
Again.

This gun-totin' dark-haired, pro-life Bonnie Parker is not afraid to chew moose-burger and childishly mock the likes of Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

And all the time, this plastic purveyor of GOP talking points is willing to shamelessly suggest that McCain and herself are the "real" change we need in Washington.
Ahem. Really?
Let's get one thing straight right now. I will not use the words "liberal" or "conservative". These are terms that certain med-addicted radio talk-show hosts have cleverly got us to substitute for the REAL words: "Democrat" and "Republican".

And there is poor ole Sarah Palin, looking for all the world like that middle school principal, you know, guys, the one you fantasized about when you sat in detention awaiting your "punishment". And she sternly warns you that Obama is a dangerous fool, and that SHE is what the Hillary-women-folk were waiting for.

Barack Obama is a genius. He has offered us an exquisite and eloquent escape from the last 8 years of the Bush/Cheney nightmare. You haven't forgot, have you? Waging a war on Al-Qaeda, but letting Bin Laden escape. And all due to the contrived bullshit called the War in Iraq. Which plopped our brave troops, under-manned and under-supplied, into the middle of an uncorked civil war. Which has now killed more soldiers than all the victims in the World Trade Center attacks.

You haven't forgot the last 8 years, have you? The largest loss of jobs and highest home forclosure rate since the Great Depression, the worst economy since the stock market crash of 1929. The attempt to set Constitution-busting precedents such as bailing on the WW2 Geneva Conventions about prisoner torture, and the wiretapping of ALL U.S. citizens without obtaining a warrant.

And here is the 800 pound gorilla in the room. The Republican party had virtually TOTAL control of all 4 branches of the US government FOR 8 YEARS, and McCain and Palin marched in lockstep with that party's failings. THE ENTIRE REPUBLICAN PARTY NEEDS TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE AND ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS LONG NIGHTMARE!!! And punished severly. Especially John McCain and that naughty Sarah Palin.

Surprise, Republicans! The "Hillary-women-folk" know the difference between the ideals of the Clintons and the Obamas (and the entire Democratic Party), and those of McBush and Palin. And they know that Palin's plans are to criminalize abortion (even in the case of rape and incest!), to ban stem-cell research, teach Biblical-Creationism in our public schools, teach ONLY abstinence rather than real sex education to our children (oh, THAT works, eh Sarah?), and the proliferation of assault weapons to any and all who wish them.

And as poor Sarah laughs at and mocks Obama in a swirl of smoke and mirrors, the 800 pound Gorilla becomes increasingly clear.

And, in November, I believe that the Hillary women are going to punish "Principal" Palin. I'm guessing they are going to spank her for being so naughty. Really hard.

September 11...

Just a quick note about my day. It is Sunday, Sept 11th, 2005.

I am leaving work, today, and am musing over this day. The Chicago Bears lost their game, the weather was very hot and humid, and I drank a goodly amout of coffee!

The Delai Lama spoke live on CNN today, as a 911 tribute to those lost, and those still still suffering. The news channels are all running 911 rememberances, as well as the continuing New Orleans/ Hurricane Katrina coverage. The papers have announced that President Bush's "approval rating" has dipped below 40%. [ =) ]

And throughout this lazy day, it occured to me: Something's missing...........

It's not football frenzy........

It's not hurricane coverage....

Wait!................I know!........................It's the anniversary of the worst terrorism attack we've ever sustained, and there have been NO warnings or official cautionaries about pontential Al Qaeda attacks on this most sinister anniversary. No alert level color-changes. No reference to the London train bombings... Hmmm. Strange.

Maybe it's because Homeland Security is quite busy trying to get us to believe that FEMA still works. Maybe, the Bush FEMA Appointee who was just "called back to Washington", is really tired from all those photo ops.

Or maybe, nobody really is worried.

And ya wonder why conspiracy theories take root? You question the woo-woo types, like me, who see a goblin behind every global event yelling "foul" or "conspiracy" or "time to wake up".

Yet, as you watched the NFL Sunday presentation today, did you miss something? What happened to those embedded "sleeper cells" we were told to watch out for? What happened to the cautions?

Think I will head home and watch the Delai Lama on Larry King tonight. I know that he will at least do HIS job. Somehow I trust his councels more than Homeland Security's.

Embodiment of Service

In the Hindu pantheon, Lord Hanuman, "Son of the Wind", is the perfect servant of Lord Ram, earthly incarnation of Vishnu.

When Lord Ram's shakti-devi "Sita" is violently abducted by a demon, it is Ram's perfect devotee, Hanuman, King of the Monkey armies, who sets off across the sea to rescue her.

I am no more Hindu than Christian or Buddhist. But the goal of "service" permeates these paths, and is no better exemplified than in the "Ramayana", the Hindu tale of Ram and his eternal friend, Hanuman.

It is in the ideal of service that I will present the future contents of this blog.
